Report: Giants have interest in Crede

The Giants have interested in third baseman Joe Crede, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman.

Crede has been hampered by back problems the last two seasons, but the Giants went over his medical records recently and were not discouraged by what they saw.

Crede, 30, has played his entire nine-year career with the White Sox and has a .257 career batting average with 125 home runs and 422 RBIs. This past season, Crede played in 97 games for Chicago and hit .248 with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs.

Manny, Crede, Johnson... the old man crew... might have some left in 'em. Could be interesting if all three are together.

I think it would be a great pick up for them. They could be a contender in that dismal NL West with Manny, Crede, Renteria, and Johnson signing. One more miracle is if Zito can return to near his old form and they can compete for sure. Then if their young guns in Sandoval, Posey, Ishkiwawa (however it is spelled) come up, you can be seeing a great team.

BRING IN MANNY AND WE WILL WIN THE WEST !! OUR PITCHING IS OUTSTANDING !!

hey, we STILL need big bats. How many 1-0, 2-1 games can we win?

Well, Crede does have past injuries. But is he old enough?

WHY??? They could bring back Rich Aurilia for 1 more year while they season a farm hand to take over @ 3rd. they would get at least 100 games and +25-30 pts BA over what Crede has lifetime, not to mention Rich's clubhouse savy and practically an onfield coach.

Brian wake up!!!!!!!!

I have a comment!? why try to get joe crede, if we have pablo sandoval. Sandoval hit 330. at bat last season you should not sign crede with his back problems. Give sandoval a chance to prove him self. Not, to mention of rich aurilia, that you guys signed him for another season. Give that youngsters a chance they can prove them selfs.Manny Ramirez is a excellent hitter, but he is 37 yrs old and he wants a big 3 or 4 year contract. Brian, you rather get Arron Dunn, he his only 30 yrs old and can hit at least 30 home runs a season

The Giants need to get Crede. Their pitching is great, but their offense is terrible. They cannot afford Manny, and Dunn And Abreu are gone, so they need to get Crede.

I am and always will be a White Sox fan, and Crede can play third, and won the silver slugger award as well. Plus, his clutch hits since he has been on the white sox. I believe the whole city has lost count. Though since 2005 he has had back problems that have limited his appearances in all the seasons since 2005. That is why he has been living with 1 year deals for a long time. As far as the club house you signed Uribe to a minor league deal, you have Rowand long term, if you get Crede and he stays healthy you have 1/3 of the starting lineup that won the 2005 world series. I understand the sox moving on with Crede, I should tell all Giants fans Uribe has played 2nd, short, and 3rd, and was unbelieveable at all positions, but he is a free swinger, but when he is hot. He can literally carry a ball club for weeks.
