Traber in the fold

The Red Sox have added a left-handed reliever with Major League experience to the fold, signing Billy Traber to a Minor League contract that includes an invitation to Spring Training.

The signing was reported by the Boston Globe. The Red Sox announce all their Minor League free-agent signings in bulk, and will likely do so in the next few days.

Traber could find it hard to make the Major League roster, considering the Red Sox already have two quality lefty relievers in Hideki Okajima and Javier Lopez. Traber posted a 7.02 ERA in 19 outings for the Yankees in 2008, spending most of the season in the Minor Leagues. His career has been split between the Indians, Nationals and Yankees. In 95 career appearances -- 28 of them starts -- Traber is 12-14 with a 5.54 ERA. He is 29 years old.

this is just the first of many off season transactions......
big ones to come shortly

I AGREE WITH YOU.FIRST OF ALL WE DONT EVEN KNOW WHO THIS GUY IS PRACTICALLY.SO I DONT CARE IF WE GOT HIM.THIS TRADE DOESNT MATTER AT ALL.VERY VERY VERY SMALL TRADE BEFORE WE SIGN TEX, AND GET PEAVY.

Who said ou re getting Tex and Peavy?

who said we are not?

Peavy would be gr8 but doubtful.Tek would be nice but probably for just this season!Red sox need to decide on Texiera or some other big bat!

Well there aren't any rumors Boston that interested in Peavy, most likely he won't go to Boston cause his trade clause. Better luck with Tex (if any)

Traber was a yankee he should not be on the red sox at all
