Phils appear interested in reliever King
The Phillies have appeared on a list of three teams interested in left-handed pitcher Ray King, according to The Denver Post. The publication says the Pirates and Marlins are also interested in the 34-year-old, who is playing in the Dominican Republic for the first time in nearly a decade.
When reached by phone, King's agent, Dave Meier, said he preferred not to comment on interest from teams because his client is handling a lot of the negotiations from the Dominican Republic. When asked if King would be interested in playing for Philadelphia, Meier replied, "Who wouldn't want to play for the world champions?"
In his 10th year in the Major Leagues, King posted a 5.68 ERA in 12 appearances and just 6 1/3 innings in the early part of 2008 for the Nationals. King, known for his ability to get left-handed hitters out because of his devastating slider, refused his outright assignment on April 29 and became a free agent. He was then signed as a Minor League free agent by the Astros on May 29, where he mostly pitched for Triple-A Round Rock -- going 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 32 appearances.

I don't see much sense in signing Ray King with two other lefties already in the pen, plus the possibility of Happ if he does'nt end up as a starter.I'd rather see Madson get a three year deal since he's a free agent after next year.Werth also will be a free agent after next year and with his power, speed and above average defense it would be a no-brainer to lock him up for a few more years along with the "heart of the team" Shane Victorino.Feliz has an option in 2010 and Beltre would look good at third since he'll be a free agent after next year.Wow am i getting ahead of myself ! You've got to look out for our future.I'd love to see Garrett Atkins here this coming year though!
