Mets interest in Andruw Jones fleeting
Whatever interest the Mets might have had in diminished center fielder Andruw Jones had a rather short shelf life.
The Mets and Dodgers were involved in superficial discussions involving Jones during the Winter Meetings earlier this month. But a person familiar with those discussions said Monday "nothing is ongoing, and nothing [no trade] is going to happen."
ESPN.com had reported that the Mets had expressed an interest in the former Gold Glove center fielder, but the report didn't mention a time element. The time clearly has passed.

Andruw is a future first ballot h.o.f-er, Atlanta is where he belongs, it's where his game heart lies, Terry Pendleton will return him to the awesome force @ the plate he truly is, once a player starts getting bounced around the league, he loses heart & starts to become a money grabbing "*****"

Andruw Jones is a perfect example of a player who was taking steroids. He is still young and there is no other reason i can think of that can contribute to his decline. He was on his way to a HOF career but i'm not to sure about that now.
Right now he is honestly terriable. He went from being the best CF in the league to being dropped in Fantasy Leagues i can't believe it.
I dont really care for the guy himself, but i wish the best for him, but i do not think he will ever get back to the player he once was.

I agree that Jones was definitely on steroids, but i think he is good enough for a trade with Luis Castillio, who doesn't bring anything to the table for the Mets since he is not a base stealer like he was and doesn't bat 300 anymore. Jones can be a full-time starter or some power off the bench. Now the thing is Daniel Murphy played second base in the minors, if they place him there then left would be open for Church and put Jones in right. I think it would be a good move.

i feel bad for jones this guy has one 10 gold gloves he hits 371 homers 51 in 05 and 41 in 06 now he gets injured for the dodgers and now no one wants him. I say start him for an entire and if he has another bad year its ok because after this season he is a freeagent dont trade him for luis castillo or u get stuck with him for 3 years.

Omar! what are you thinking of? This guy is a tool, forget about the out field. You need to sign Lowe and Sheets NOW! As a METS fan I am tired of the Los Mets you are trying to put together. As a Hispanic I find this to be Insulting, If you want a World Series title then get the best players no matter what their nationality.

The bottom like is the Dodgers have no place to put Luis Castillo.

maybe the braves will try and bring back AJones. if the dodgers eat most of his salary. never know the Andruw we know could come back.... depending on what we would have to give up could be a pretty good risk, with a igh reward.

Pizza- I agree i'm a Yankee fan and i can't stand the fact that Omar only signs hispanic players. I mean its not a fact but it sure as hell seems that way and it pisses me off. Imagine if a White GM wouldn't sign any player that wasn't White. That would be the worst thing that ever happened. It would be headlines in papers and all that B.S. IDK ive noticed that for a while but didnt' say anything until i saw your post. Did he ever come out and say that.

im the biggest fan fan around and i must say , i think this works. the mets have been veeeery smart about getting guys at there price. they need a starter and still have to address 3 areas.. OF upgrade, 2B upgrade and C upgrade. if they can get rid of castillo for jones somehow, this is a def OF upgrade. jones hit over 40 hrs 2 years ago. i just think he was out of shape and not happy in la ( ex manny=bos) if this guy tries with a fresh start and with the mets lineup, we just got an allstar of for free basically , if they eat salary. then we also rid ourselves of castillo, which allows us the get an all star 2b in hudson, which he is waiting to see f we sign him , he wants to be here. then lastly, maybe there is enuff $$$ left to sign a guy like veritek and or pudge. then your line up is
reyes ss
hudson 2b
beltran cf
wright 3b
jones lf
delgato 1b
church rf
veritek c
thats a pretty good line up for a rotation of
santana, pelfry , lowe, maine, neise
with putz and k rod to close ..

With the reworking of AJ's contract, we'll see if Mets interest rekindles...

I could be wrong but I think the reworking of Andruw's contract only effects the Dodgers?? If they release him they still owe him all the money its just that 12 million of it will be broke down and paid to him over the next few years to make it easier on their budget not a teams budget looking to trade for him.. If they release him though maybe whatever team gets him gets him even cheaper since he is still getting paid by LA... If Andurw ends up with the mets Im pretty sure he will be playing center and Beltran will be moving to left or right though Andruw will return to his gold glove status and show people why he is 1 of the greatest defensive centerfielders of all time!!

I totally agree tipton. AJ is one of, if not the best CF in the game today. Sizemore, Beltran, Hunter are the others who are head and shoulders better than the rest of MLB.
I don't necc agree that he would start in CF for the Mets if Beltran is healthy to play. AJ has no leverage to make a fuss either about playing the corners.
