Dickey files for free agency
Right-handed reliever R.A. Dickey, who was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma last Friday, had until Friday to either accept the assignment or file for free agency. He beat the deadline, filing for free agency on Tuesday night, but leaving the door open for a possible return to Seattle next season.
"I'm waiting for an offer from (the Mariners)," Dickey said from his Nashville, Tenn. home. "They told me they wanted me back, and would get back to me on Sunday."
But he never received a call and went ahead and filed for free agency. Even so, his preference would be to play for the Mariners and probably will wait to hear from club officials before signing with another organization.
Selected in the Rule 5 Draft last December at the Winter Meetings held in Nashville, Dickey went 5-8 with a 5.21 ERA in 32 appearances.

He was especially effective in relief, posting a 2-0 record and 2.00 ERA in 18 relief appearances.
