Braves eyeing outfielders

The Braves are still looking at a number of power-hitting outfielders that they could land via trade. Three of the players currently on their radar are Rick Ankiel, Corey Hart and Jeremy Hermida.

It doesn't appear the Braves still have much interest in Ryan Ludwick.  But they may talk to the Cardinals about Ankiel, whose drawback stems from the fact that he's a Scott Boras client who will be eligible for free agency at the end of the 2009 season.

The Braves likely wouldn't have to give up as much to get Ankiel as they would to land Hart, who will be arbitration-eligible for the next three seasons.  There have been whispers that the Brewers may choose to trade Hart to slash some money from the payroll.

It doesn't seem like the Braves would have to give the Marlins a lot to get Hermida. But it appears they are more currently more interested  in Hart and Ankiel.

The idea of the Braves getting Hermida was something I thought might happen as soon as I saw he was available. But given the fact that the Braves just gave up some prospects for Vazquez and Hermida is still a bit of an unknown quanity in terms of his final power numbers, I am not sure the Braves would have the stomach for going after him. Add that to the fact that who ever the Marlins target from the Braves will undoubtedly end up being a stud, not sure the Braves would want to go down that road. I would love to see if in a Braves uniform, though I tend to be blinded by upside potential.

I would like to see the Braves sign Rocco Baldelli . I know he has a history of getting hurt, but he would at least be a cheap back-up plan.

I think there a lot of outfielders that teams are looking to move that we should look into. I really like Delmon Young, but the lest is endless. Dye is still out there. Carlos Lee is available, although I know his contract is huge. Jaun Pierre has no power, but would finally be a true lead-off man. I just don't want to get zeroed in on these guys when we don't have one sure thing in the outfield. Franceour was scary bad last year. Diaz needs to be back in the platoon role. The young guys don't look ready.

Also, why hasn't there been any thought of putting Kelly Johnson back in his natural position? I know it would be a tough transition, but Prado looks great and we need a left fielder, which was Kelly's position.

your an idiot if you think that Carlos Lee is available.....doesnt matter anyway the braves wont be any good next year they have too many holes.

It seems that no one is interested in Vetern Moises Alou he's one of the best fast ball hitters in baseball good power put him between Chipper and McCann since he isnt getting much attention he would have to be a cheaper bargain with low risk - high reward 1 yr deal couldnt hurt, and Hart , Ankiel, Hermadia were talking about the clean up spot not the 7th hole why would they even be interested in them.
