Angels back in the game with K-Rod?
All along, it has been the Mets and then everyone else with respect to Francisco Rodriguez, the big prize in a crowded market of closers. And all along, Mets GM Omar Minaya has been coy about how long he'll go in a deal with K-Rod. If the latest speculation -- by Buster Olney of ESPN.com -- is on the money, Angels fans have to like their chances of seeing the closer return to Anaheim.
The Mets, Olney submits, will offer three years and about $36 million for the man who delivered a record 62 saves this season and is just 26 years old. This doesn't exactly blow away the Angels' best proposal, believed to be three years and $34 million. It remains to be seen if the Mets -- or anyone else -- will approach what Frankie had in mind in their dealings with his agent, Paul Kinzer, in Las Vegas this week. All things being relatively equal, the Angels could have their superb bullpen back intact next season.

The Mets need to do something to help their bullpen. Their fans are not going to accept it if they implode again this season.

I agree Julia. New York fans expect nothing less than a World Series win every year let alone getting so close to the playoffs and completely blowing it. The Mets need a top flight closer to take Billy Wagner's place. I hope they don't get one as a Braves fan but it looks like they will at least get Brian Fuentes.

Someone PLEASE take K-Rod. This Angel fan has no use for this over-rated closer. He got 62 saves in spite of his abilty not because of it. Drop the save number out and put his numbers against any other closer and I bet he isn't even in the top 10. We will do just fine with Arrendondo who looks like a budding young Mariano Rivera with his heavy fastbal and sinker
