Anderson starting to generate interest
The A's and Rays have surfaced in various media outlets as possible destinations for Garret Anderson, the Angels' franchise leader in a variety of offensive categories. The Angels have made no move, it appears, to retain Anderson, re-signing Juan Rivera as his likely replacement in left field with Gary Matthews Jr. and Reggie Willits in support.
Anderson told MLB.com that he would be open to playing right field, where Vladimir Guerrero has been entrenched in Anaheim. "I'm very comfortable in right, as well as left," said Anderson, the Angels' regular right fielder in 1998. "I'm just waiting to see what's out there." He has a strong, accurate arm and played high-caliber left field in 2008 while finishing second on the club to Guerrero in RBIs with 84 and batting .293. He's 36 and 632 hits shy of 3,000, which means he probably needs to play at least four more seasons to get there. He said he's agreeable to relocating anywhere, including the East Coast.

I hope the the Braves have some interest in him, only downside is that he's left handed bat, go after him!!! put him between Chipper and McCann, vetern presence, he'll hit 20 homers and drive in 85-100 rbi and hit 290. or better. it really seems like were not interested in anyone tho.....

Chrislaa15--are you aware of the numbers he put up last year? I dont see why he couldn't hit 20 hr and around 85-100 Rbi's. I mean it depends where he ends up but if he goes to either the A's or Rays he is going to have decent protection in either lineup.
Feel free to correct me and expand on your point, but i think hes def capable of reaching those numbers. And hes def not going to end up w/ the Angels they just signed Rivera and they have there 55mil dollar 4th Of in Gary Matthews Jr. So thats not going to happen.

billy beane is maybe the best gm in baseball right now but he dosent know how to sign free agents the rays and a's are both interested in giambi and anderson if giambi comes to oakland anderson is going to the rays and the other way around billy beane should go after which ever player is going to suit the club the best and give the best numbers and get him the a's are going to be last years angels guerero (holliday) anderson (anderson/giambi) i hope the rays also make the playoffs so that the yankees screw up with the millions of dollars wasted on all the players and hopefully they dont make the playoffs a's are going to make the playoffs if the angels dont do anything big

I could see Garrett in right field for the Rays for a few years, or as a Designated Hitter for the team. The big plus is that Rays Manager Joe Maddon already knows the personality and work ethic of Anderson having been the bench coach of the L A Angels.
I think he still as some great productive years ahead of him, and remember, he was second on the team in RBI in 2008. Not bad for a guy who has been consistent with the bat for a long time.

Cdunn I sort of kind of don't agree with you because Garret is startin to smell the roses he is a good rbi guy what I meant he couldn't put up 100 rbis he can put upfrom75 to 90 a year and no way he's goin to Oakland or the Rays hes worn Angel Red his entire career he not gonna ditch the halos after 14 seasons with them my guess is wat I said before Garrret has been a free agent before and theres been talks that he will leave and then the Halos make an offer and he ends up stayin

If the A's Sign Anderson they will have one of the best outfields in baseball with Anderson in left, Ryan Sweeney in Center, and Holiday in right. and complimented by the signing of Giambi at first base the A's will have a legit middle line up. If they stay healthy and off the DL they will definitely have a chance at the West Coast Division Tittle. The A's need to focus on their starting Rotation and they will be a formidable force in the west.

He still can hit and can hit lefties better than some righties. He can still play a year or 2, especially if he DH's.
