Royals reportedly sign J.R. House

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported that catcher-first baseman J.R. House has signed a contract with the Royals' organization. House, 29, once a catching prospect with the Pirates, played last season for Triple-A Round Rock in the Astros' organization and batted .306 with 18 homers and 60 RBIs. He played 73 games at first base and 45 at catcher.

House, a right-handed hitter, has played in 32 Major League games for the Pirates, Astros and Orioles (10-for-60, .167, three homers). He was a highly-touted quarterback for Nitro High in Charleston, W.Va., before starting a baseball career. In 817 Minor League games, he batted .310 with 108 homers and 509 RBIs

Pour guy ... Pirates, Astros, Orioles, then now Kansas City. Hey, a gig's a gig. On the brighter side of things, the Royals did NOT finish in last place this year. Progress!!
