Ordonez, Angels could be a fit

Tigers outfielder Magglio Ordonez, one of the most intriguing names reportedly in play in the trade market this winter, would have to hold great appeal to the Angels -- especially if they are unable to retain Mark Teixeira, their coveted free agent first baseman. Ordonez could do for Vladimir Guerrero what Teixeira did for him in the second half of the season, relieving pressure and freeing Vlad up to take a walk now and then.

If they're out-bid for Teixeira, one of Scott Boras' big-name clients, and Garret Anderson also departs, the Angels will need to upgrade the heart of their lineup with a potent bat or two. Ordonez is about as good as it gets in terms of consistent run production. The Tigers have multiple needs the talent-rich Angels could fill, notably at catcher, in the bullpen and at shortstop. This could heat up in the days ahead.

ordonez to the angels that would be a perfect.guerrero in right hunter in center and ordonez in left.what and outfeild.could be the strongest 3-4-5 line-up in the A

i've been preaching this since the first day Ordonez's name was brought up on the trading block.
Napoli, Shields, Izturis for Ordonez and maybe a Double A prospect.
Have to give up talent to get it. I don't think the Tigers could walk away from an offer like that.

Napoli? Are you insane? If you're going to put a catcher in there, make it Mathis. That was my one question of Scioscia the whole year. Look, in 20% FEWER at bats, Napoli has 4 more runs, 7 more hits (including 11 more HRs), 7 more RBI, 5 more walks and 20 fewer strikeouts (even averaging the same number of ABs as Mathis, Napoli still has 3 fewer Ks). Oh and his average is .273 compared to .194. Naps IS the Angles' catcher and his postseason definately dictated that.

As i said, you have to give talent to get it. Yo don't think the Tigers know everything you just said. They sure as hell do and will want some power in return for their top power guy. Tigers need a major league ready cather and Nap fits the bill perfectly. Ordonez would fill the power void we lose by giving up Napoli and also add some On Base Percentage as well as AVG. So no, I am not insane. Just realistic.

Angels can't trade Napoli the present and future Angels catcher or Izturis the missing link that cost the Angels elimination in the play off. there are other good player like Mat Holliday out there.
Nothing good might come out when you make part of your machine strong and another part weak, be realistic.

I think if the Angels lose out on Tex, this is a good option, but what is it going to take to get him and how long does he have left on his current contract? If he has 3 years left sure it's worth the deal... having 1 or 2 might not be worth it with Boras as his agent, who will not let him sign before he tests the open market. The tough thing with any deal is most teams are looking for SP talent. The Angels don't like to part with arms and for good reason. They are already 1 starter short with Garland gone. The only arm I think they would be willing to give is Adenhart. If they would take Adenhart, Mathis and Aybar for him, I think we make the deal. Another name that interests me is Atkins from the Rockies... if they lessen their demands for Kendrick in a deal, a deal could be done... If the Angels can sign Tex however they wont make trades for a bat, they will stay in FA pool... I also like the idea of Casey Blake being signed to play 3rd and moving Figgins to LF.

Tex is going to the Yankz...100%

Pitching will have to be the main return on a trade for Ordonez. Sure, the Tigers are looking for a veteran catcher and shortstop to fill openings on their rosters, but a package of Napoli, Shields, and Izturis isn't anywhere near acceptable. These types of players can be picked up through free agency, and there are plenty of free agent catchers and shortstops out there that are as good or better than these two.

I think the Angeles need to go after a consistant power hitter such as Ordonez. He would be a perfect fit with the Angeles. This year the Angeles need to be more aggressive to spend alittle more to get the power hitter they so desparately need to be competitive with the Yankees and Red Socks. They could offer up Aybar and jeff Mathis or accouple of their young unproven pitchers. I think the Team needs another major Name to draw more fans to the park. Good luck Angel accounting Deptment do miss out again by being so tight!!!.
