Marlins trading Gregg to Cubs

The Marlins are wrapping up details on a trade that will send reliever Kevin Gregg to the Cubs for right-handed pitcher Jose Ceda, the Marlins announced on Thursday afternoon.

Gregg converted 29 saves in 38 opportunities. Two weeks ago, he underwent surgery to repair a left patella tendinitis.

this better be a way to get Peavy. Ceda is a good young talent and Gregg blows a ton of saves. he is horrible.

Is it possible Gregg was aquired to flip to Padres as part of Peavy deal, as they have parted ways with Hoffman?

I'll say this is a very interesting trade. Gregg is certainlly no closer the Cubs need right now especically when Ceda was a very good young gun. I thought he might be in the bull pen next year. If this was a way to help the trade for Peavy then I am all for it, if not, Hendry is a very smart man and no one thought anything of Edmonds or Johnson when he stole those two, so if hes staying he might be better than everyones has seen.

IM a huge MARLINS fan and i love this trade because though Greg had his moments this past year he blew nd ultimatley cost the marlins a playoff birth hopefully ceda will provide some good pitching for the fish
