Hermida on Phillies radar

Add the World Series champion Phillies to the list of teams inquiring about Marlins right fielder Jeremy Hermida, MLB.com has learned. Pat Burrell, a free agent, could be leaving Philadelphia. If he does, Hermida is one of the names the Phillies are considering as a corner outfield alternative.

Hermida, the Marlins regular right fielder since 2006, also is drawing attention from the Cubs. The Rays and Brewers are other possible landing spots for Hermida, should the Marlins decide to trade the 24-year-old, left-handed hitting outfielder. Hermida is up for arbitration for the first time. The Marlins are prepared to retain him, but with more teams showing interest, it could tempt the squad to pull the trigger on a deal.

Hermida has not come close to enough production at the plate to cover for his fielding and base running liabilities.
It is time for a scenery change for him and time to look down of the farm for his replacement.

Why would the Phillies want yet another left handed bat to an already left handed heavy lineup?

How would the Phillies get Hermedia? Marlins going to make a big inter-division trade? I don't think so.

To the comment about the Marlins trading inter-division:
This year: Olsen and Willingham to Washington; Others:Delgado/Piazza to NYM;Floyd from Montreal; Renteria to ATL
Those are a few high profile names, but there are plenty more trades involving prospects. The Marlins have never hesitated to trade a player to a division rival if they feel it helps out the team.
I suggest maybe retaining Herminda and seeing if Raynor and Carroll can handle the Bigs before moving him mid season if there is still interest.(his likely replacements as of right now)

The Marlins shouldn't trade Jeremy Hermida yet, especially considering that Carroll and Raynor are both injured. I say, give Hermida '09 and if he continues to disappoint trade him the following season.

PLease hurry pull the trigger he should have been the throw in with the trade with the nats not the hammer please trade him he will never amount to what we all fans and front office thought he was going to be when you see him play and when he struggles it really seems like iy does not bother him like there is no sense of like i better get my *** going or i can find my self back on that bus in the minors but then again he is already taken care of as far as money everything was givin to this kid big money out of hight school a starting job get over it front office he is like the porsche in the driveway that dont run well if you ar still here in 09 you still will hear me letting you know how bad u are

if hermida goes the marlins should give a chance to out fielder top prospect mike stanton.even though he isn't ready give him a chance at spring trainig.the marlins have givin a lot of players like mike jacobs, scott olsen, josh willingham, and kevin gregg.what is the point on giving hermida away if they saved and have 35 million with them.who are they going to get from the free agency?if they trade him get actually good prospects.

Hermida sucks anybody they can trade him for is a good deal. They should just trade him for cash so they can get carl pavano.

I forgot to mention that I thought the marlins should have traded him after his grandslam because he only had downhill to go from there.

LMAO! really? trade Hermida for cash to get Pavano? you have to be kidding at least the kid hasnt been constantly plagued by injuries 4 years in a row. Hermida is 24 Pavano is 32. If you are going to trade Hermida get a prospect which im sure they can get or if not the Marlins' scouts are pretty good, they'll find a diamond in the rough.

The Marlins SHOULD NOT TRADE JEREMY HERMIDA!!!!!!!!!! They have given up enough quality players already!! With Scott Olsen, Josh Willingham and Mike Jacobs traded already, the last thing the Marlins need is to give up on their first round draft pick. Jeremy has shown tremendous talent in the past two years. Just because players have slumps does not mean they do not benefit the team. Losing Jeremy would be a HUGE mistake!!!!!!!!!!

Get rid of Hermida! ive been saying it since the first time i saw him play! His a mess at the plate and in the outfield he expects the center fielder to make every play for him, worst of all he shows no sign of frustration or that he even cares that he sucks! If we cant trade him send him down to the minors to see if he realizes he does not BELONG in the majors and needs to EARN his spot in the roster. I think we can sucker a team into giving us a good prospect for this excuse of an athlete.

As a baseball player when one is in a slump the last thing you need to do is get frustrated and much less show it because once you do that thats when you get deeper into slumps and the k's start rollin up and outs become unproductive. I like JH i would prefer to keep him but if the marlins can get someone who would IMPROVE the team then why not? like i said before the Marlin scouts are pretty good along w/ the front office they know what they're doing.

After Hermida hit that 6yr old kid in Phillie and all the time he spent seeing over the walfare of that young lad I really had a good feeling for Jeremy........he knows he's been struggling, he just don't throw his glove on the ground, curse fans, through his helmit or bat, punch out the water-coolers, but I agree he needs to go to the minors and earn his way back,...... I also think that Hanley should be put in right field and Amezaga at SS, I rather have 1 Amezaga than 10 Hanleys.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE trade Hermida. He has been nothing but a dissapointment for the marlins. I am sure the Marlins will be abel to move him for some quality players.
