Greene on the radar...
The Orioles still have SS Khalil Greene in mind as a potential solution to their infield woes, but he may not be standing near the top of their list. Greene, who has played for the Padres for his entire career, can be a free agent after the 2009 season, complicating his availability.
The Padres are believed to be interested in moving Greene, but Baltimore would likely want to explore contract extension talks with him before completing any trade. The Orioles will make upgrading at short a priority this winter, a necessity after last season's indecision.
Baltimore started the year with Luis Hernandez as its starter last year and later progressed to no-hit options Brandon Fahey and Freddie Bynum. Alex Cintron also got a look as starter before veteran Juan Castro seized the job and solidified the position down the stretch.
