Dempster dealings
The Chicago Tribune reports the Cubs have offered Ryan Dempster a four-year, $50 million offer. The Cubs have exclusive negotiating rights with the free agent pitcher through Thursday. However, Dempster's agent, Craig Landis, said last week there's little possibility the pitcher will sign soon with the Cubs. Expect a lot of interest in Dempster from other teams if he goes on the open market. On Tuesday, Dempster finished sixth in the NL Cy Young voting.

Seems like a lot for a guy who's only pitched 200 innings 3 times in a 10 year career. Expect an injury next year. He had a great year and really learned how to use his splitter instead of throwing slider after slider to every hitter, but I really don't think he'll ever pitch 200 + again. Unless it's a contract year. There's a reason they put him in the pen. Even Ben Sheets pitched a lot of innings last year......Expect about 50 from him this year.

encarnacion sucks. atkins would be a huge upgrade at 3rd. i say trade prospects for atkins and then trade encarnacion maybe for some relief help and a prospect. atkins was among league leaders in hitting against lefthanded pitching. huge help. plays solid defense too
